Data points - what are they?

Data points are where infographics are born. It is the information that you deem most important within the data you have collected based on a specific topic.

We pick out the most relevant data points based on the way the end content will be used, distributed and shared.

An infographic can have many data points or have just 3 data points and they may be something like this:

  1. The average person visits a supermarket 1.6 times a week.
  2. The average amount of milk and dairy products consumed per person per year on a global scale is just 87.3kg.
  3. The average person spends about 20 minutes on Facebook per day.

(These were collected using google auto correct – please do not trust that these facts are correct)

From those data points we create ways to visualise them in the most efficient and attractive way. Infographics are a way of communicating complex information in the quickest and easiest way.
